RADIO FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION Technology
RFID stands for "Radio Frequency Identification" It means that items are identified by having a memory chip on board. The memory chip is connected to a radio antenna and can communicate in its broadcast proximity.
Technical issues abound and standards for open systems still remain elusive. Closed loop systems are delivering benefits and an increasingly wide number of applications are claiming operating efficiency gains.
Rolling out RFID Tecnology for any application requires a planned project and initial research. If the cost of the system can justify the investment, or you can achieve outcomes not possible with any other technology, then you may decide there is a strong business case to invest.
Steps to Take
While many applications around the world of RFID software are under early roll out stage, the business case and R.O.I. is proving difficult to quantify.
