Tracking crates within The Warehouse’s new distribution centre was a pressing problem for which they looked to a high calibre barcoding solution. Because of the tough conditions their tags would be subjected to, it was imperative that they were virtually indestructible. Saito Labels teamed up with the crate distributor, and The Warehouse, to test several options, including aluminium, and polycarbonate tags.
New Zealand Post have successfully used a polycarbonate tag for many years and proved it was an optimum solution within a physically challenging environment. 
New Zealand Post’s experience proved this system was everything The Warehouse needed, and similar tags have now been successfully implemented into The Warehouse’s track and trace distribution system.
Polycarbonate tags are made from the same material that coats space shuttles. Each tag is also individually laser etched which ensures that the barcode is easily scanable even if it has been subjected to physical damage. Tags can be attached by either rivets or super glue.
